People queue. This is a polite convention, so be prepared to wait in line when you are waiting for a bus, in a shop or practically anywhere! Nobody will jump in front of you so will you will be served in the right order.
Haggling is not commonplace. Haggling is where you try and get a price down for goods and services. It doesn’t mean you can’t haggle, just be prepared that some UK people may not be used to it.
People say ‘thank you’ and excuse me a lot. British people are very polite!
Transportation varies widely depending upon where you live in the country. Timetables run well in most instances but there can be delays and it’s always a good idea to allow plenty of time for your journey, just in case!
British people can have a dry sense of humour. This can include sarcasm and it can take some getting used to, but it’s only meant as light banter.
There are so many different accents in the UK, they vary a lot. People in the North speak very differently from people in the South and they even have their own language. For example, visit London and a passageway is called an alley. In Yorkshire it’s called a ginnel. That’s just the start!
British food isn’t known to the best, however, a British roast dinner is awesome! Well worth trying, especially in the winter months.
Not everybody lives in a stately home or castle, and not everybody has met the Queen.
British people like to talk about the weather a lot. If it’s raining, you won’t get through a day without somebody commenting on it.
The NHS is free for residents. You don’t need to be a citizen to seek emergency medical assistance.
